What is split system sanitation and why does it matter?
Over time, dust, mould and bacteria build up on the indoor coil, the barrel fan and in the drain of a split system. Sanitation goes beyond a regular service by treating and washing these parts. Regular maintenance:
- removes bacteria, mould, pollen, dust and microbial matter from the air conditioner, reducing the chances of sickness
- eradicates odours such as mould and smoke, which can be a sign of a sick air conditioner
- dislodges blockages in the drain, which can otherwise cause the air conditioner to backflow and flood
- enables the air conditioner to operate at its maximum energy efficiency, saving on operating costs
A Deep Clean is recommended for systems with odours, visible mould or dust build up, or systems that have not been serviced for some time.

What is the difference between a Standard Service and a Deep Clean?
Both services follow our 28 point checklist and include a full Maintenance & Operation Report. The Deep Clean adds an antifungal and antibacterial conditioner and a high pressure wash for the indoor coil, a barrel fan clean with a specialised wand, a water pressure flush of the condensate drain, and a circuit breaker identification check.
Which service do I need?
The Standard Preventive Maintenance Service suits systems that are serviced regularly and are in good condition. The Deep Clean suits systems with odours, mould or dust build up, or systems that have not been serviced for some time.
How often should my split system be serviced?
As a general guide, we recommend maintenance every 400 working hours in a domestic environment, and every 200 working hours or less in a commercial environment, depending on indoor air quality.
Can you sanitise a multi-split system?
Yes. With the Deep Clean, every indoor unit of your multi-split system receives every item in the Standard Service, plus the Deep Clean extras, and the shared outdoor unit is serviced in the same visit.
